Here's a quick update as we are preparing for our mission adventure this summer to Trinidad.
36 of us from Immanuel Bible Church (and some family members from out of town) will participate in a week-long evangelical mission to the people of Trinidad. We are partnering with Harmony International and the Trinidad & Tobago Urban Mission. Our purpose is to leave the evangelical emphasis that is already in place stronger than the day we arrived.
Our team is comprised primarily of those who participate in some way with our church’s music ministry…choir, orchestra, drama, etc. We have a number of family units going (11 kids between the ages of 8 & 14)…even a family of 3 generations! We know that with this mix of ages and demographics it is going to be an interesting week for sure. Our team has been praying for each other daily since our first meeting in January.
Each month we have a meeting to talk about topics ranging from what expectations we might have to how long our shorts should be! ;-) We have been divided up into ministry teams, but it might still mean that we are serving in a number of capacities.
We'll host a Vacation Bible School each morning bringing Jesus to children through music, Bible stories & games.
Afternoons we will be using our outreach skills at the Orphanage, Youth Prison & Home for the Elderly. Three of the evenings we will hold an evangelistic service with music, drama, and testimonies.
For many of us, it is our very first time to venture out of our comfort zones into a foreign country at God’s calling! We covet the prayers of our supporters during these next weeks of preparation, but also during that very busy week in July. We know that God has a plan for the people of Trinidad, but mostly we know that God has a plan for us.
Prayer requests:
- Unity with the local ministry we will support.
-We will need to bring all of our supplies for the VBS time. Please pray that we have everything we need, and for flexibility if we don’t!
-Our team has a very wide range of ages…please pray that health will not be a factor, and that God will grant stamina to each team member.
-We are in the “crunch” time for learning songs, skits & finalizing the programming for VBS and the evangelical evenings. Please pray that our time will be efficient and our memories will be excellent!
We are so very grateful for the love shown by financial supporters and prayer warriors for this trip.
We look forward to sharing photos and our experiences as soon as we return!
